Blue Hill trail has a variety of hiking options with a shorter shared trail and a larger loop. You will hike through some wooded areas, swamp brush and wide open prairie for the first four miles, then enter a beautiful pine forest followed by a climb up Blue Hill. Or you can reverse direction and hit Blue Hill first while your energy is high.
The trail is fairly wide and easy to follow with the exception of Blue Hill where it is narrow and a bit overgrown in places. There are two overlooks- one at Buck Lake, complete with a pair of telescopes, and another overlook at the top of Blue Hill. During the summer the view from the hill is largely blocked by the leaves of the trees, but during late fall, winter, and spring the views are magnificent!
The trail is roughly 5 miles long with the sum of all uphill climbs around 144 feet.
